FG Polo edged Diamond/Master Paints 5–4 in a tense final league encounter at Lahore Polo Club to claim the remaining berth in the National Open final, leaving BN Polo out of contention. Both FG Polo and Diamond/Master Paints advance to the grand final of the 63rd Allied Bank National Open Polo Championship for the Quaid-e-Azam Gold Cup 2026, scheduled for Sunday at 3:00 PM.
The win was built around a commanding display from Raja Mikayial Sami, who struck four vital goals in the match, with Amin Rehman adding a crucial penalty to complete FG Polo’s tally. FG Polo’s comeback character and late composure under pressure proved decisive as the league stage concluded.
Diamond/Master Paints were led by Sufi Haroon bin Haris, who found the net twice, while Raja Temur Nadeem and Facundo Retamar contributed one goal each. Despite a strong start and sustained pressure through the middle chukkas, Diamond/Master Paints could not hold the advantage in the closing moments.
The match saw dramatic momentum swings across five chukkas. Raja Temur Nadeem opened with a field goal before Sufi Haroon quickly doubled the lead and then extended it early in the second chukka to 3–0. FG Polo began their recovery late in the second when Raja Mikayial Sami converted a penalty. In the third chukka Amin Rehman added a penalty and Sami equalised to make it 3–3. Retamar’s field goal in the fourth put Diamond/Master Paints ahead 4–3, but Sami dominated the final chukka, scoring twice in quick succession to flip the result and seal a 5–4 victory for FG Polo.
The Lahore crowd will now look forward to a compelling final on Sunday at 3:00 PM as FG Polo and Diamond/Master Paints contest the Quaid-e-Azam Gold Cup. The result underscores FG Polo’s resilience and sets up a high-stakes conclusion to the National Open that has drawn keen interest across Pakistan’s polo community.
