A special event marked International Women’s Day at the Women’s Ramadan Sahulat Bazar in Sector G-11, Islamabad, bringing together women customers, traders and business leaders under a single initiative organised by the Capital Development Authority, Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad and the Islamabad Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The Ramadan Women Bazaar aims to highlight women’s business capabilities and create pathways to economic independence by offering a dedicated marketplace where female entrepreneurs can showcase products and connect with consumers. The bazaar will remain open for women traders through Eid-ul-Fitr in collaboration with the Women Chamber of Commerce.
In line with the vision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, organisers implemented a fully cashless system at the Women Bazaar, with special arrangements designed to encourage women traders and simplify transactions for customers. Stalls exclusively for women are displaying a wide range of items, and the market emphasizes accessible pricing for household essentials.
Businesswoman Shazia Imran highlighted that the bazaar features organic, natural and chemical-free food items alongside fresh and healthy products, meeting a growing demand among shoppers for quality and transparency. The focus on such products has been welcomed by both consumers and traders as an important aspect of the Women Bazaar experience.
Rabia Farhan, Vice President of the Islamabad Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry, described the initiative as a valuable opportunity for women entrepreneurs, thanking the CDA and MCI for organising the event on International Women’s Day and noting the immense business potential it presents for female-led enterprises.
CDA officials said a strict price monitoring system has been put in place at the Women Ramadan Bazar, implemented under the directions of Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa. The administration added that the G-11 market is equipped with modern facilities to ensure consumers and traders have access to essentials at reasonable rates.
Customers and traders expressed hope that the Ramadan Women Bazaar will become a recurring platform in Islamabad, one that supports sustainable income generation and reinforces the role of the Women Bazaar as a milestone for economic well-being among Pakistani women.
