Islamabad, March 10, 2026 saw the Inter Boards Coordination Commission host the National Education–Hockey Coordination Committee at the IBCC Secretariat to chart a national approach for reviving hockey through Pakistan’s education system. The meeting was co-chaired by Dr. Ghulam Ali Mallah and Mohyuddin Ahmed Wani and brought together Directors of Physical Education from educational boards, representatives of the Pakistan Hockey Federation and former Olympians Hassan Sardar, Islahuddin and Khwaja Junaid.
The Federal Secretary IPC presented the IBCC–PHF School and Inter-Board Hockey Revival Program (2026–2029), a strategic roadmap designed to rebuild Pakistan’s hockey talent pipeline by embedding the sport within school curricula and board-level activities. The program lays out phased actions to strengthen grassroots engagement and create clear pathways for young players.
Central to the Hockey revival plan is the expansion of school-level hockey, the organization of inter-board competitions and the establishment of a structured progression for promising athletes to move from school teams to higher representative levels. Emphasis in discussions remained on practical coordination between education authorities and the Pakistan Hockey Federation to ensure sustained implementation.
Participants welcomed the initiative and reaffirmed their commitment to jointly revive Pakistan’s national sport through the education sector. A joint Steering Committee, which will include former Olympians, was announced to oversee rollout of the roadmap and monitor progress against agreed milestones.
Stakeholders highlighted that the success of this Hockey revival will depend on steady collaboration between boards, schools and sporting bodies to rebuild the talent pipeline and restore Pakistan’s competitive presence by nurturing players from an early age.
