Ambassador Ilyas Mehmood Nizami paid an official visit to the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Gendarmerie, where he was received by Major General Alin-Ionel Mastan, the Inspector General. On arrival at the headquarters the Ambassador was accorded a Guard of Honour, a ceremonial mark of the institution’s commitment to protocol and state representation.
The delegation provided a detailed briefing on the organisational structure and the key functions of the Romanian Gendarmerie, outlining responsibilities across public order, specialised security tasks and protection duties. The Ambassador was briefed on operational roles that support the safety of institutions and communities within Bucharest.
Among the topics discussed, Ambassador Nizami particularly appreciated the services rendered by the Romanian Gendarmerie in protecting diplomatic missions in the capital. He noted the importance of such protection for the Pakistani mission and underscored the value of reliable security arrangements for diplomatic activity in Bucharest.
The visit reinforced mutual interest in maintaining close contacts and exploring practical cooperation between Pakistan’s diplomatic representatives and the Romanian Gendarmerie. Both sides expressed a willingness to continue dialogue aimed at ensuring the safety of diplomatic personnel and facilities in the city.
