Chairman of the Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority, Dr. Ghulam Ali Mallah, convened representatives of all private school associations in Islamabad Capital Territory to strengthen efforts that ensure no child is left out of school and to reduce the number of out-of-school children. The meeting concentrated on collecting updated information about implementation of the 10 percent free education quota for deserving students, with particular attention to orphans and children of martyrs as part of broader measures to improve Access to Education.
Private school representatives committed to full cooperation and agreed to submit detailed information on available admission seats across 36 vulnerable Union Councils in ICT. This data will support authorities in identifying out-of-school children and facilitate targeted enrolment drives, moving the city closer to the goal of zero out-of-school children and improving Access to Education for marginalized communities.
As a practical step to widen learning opportunities, schools offered their facilities for evening hours to run non-formal education programs aimed at older children who missed formal schooling. Participants also discussed enabling private school students to use government sports facilities, highlighting that physical activity is essential for student wellbeing alongside academic learning and can reinforce efforts to keep learners engaged in school.
Dr. Mallah informed attendees that 70 pending applications for new schools were recently approved and registered after completion of inspection procedures, and he thanked inspection teams from the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education and the Inter Boards Coordination Commission for their cooperation. He reiterated that the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training remains committed to the vision that no child should be left behind and called for continued partnership between government and private schools to expand Access to Education across Islamabad.
Officers of PEIRA attended the session and participants commended the chairman for his consultative approach, noting that regular engagement and prompt attention to private sector concerns will help sustain momentum. At the close of the meeting all parties reaffirmed their collective commitment that every child in Islamabad Capital Territory will have access to quality education.
