President Atif Akram Sheikh said Germany is Europe’s largest economy and an important trading partner for Pakistan, noting that current bilateral trade of about $3.5 billion is well below both countries’ potential. He highlighted significant opportunities to expand Germany Pakistan Trade across multiple sectors.

Sheikh outlined Pakistan’s export strengths in textiles, garments, leather goods, sports equipment, footwear and surgical instruments, while noting that Pakistan imports machinery, chemical products, pharmaceuticals, electrical equipment and motor vehicles from Germany. He said German technology transfer could lift Pakistan’s industrial output and create jobs.

Both sides discussed launching joint projects in IT, renewable energy, value‑added textiles, agricultural products and food processing. President Sheikh invited German firms to consider joint ventures, industrial cooperation and skills training programmes in Pakistan, stressing that the country’s young workforce and large market offer attractive investment opportunities.

Ambassador Ina Lepel said Germany wants to strengthen economic and trade relations with Pakistan and that German companies are interested in green energy, industrial technology, vocational training and digitalisation. She added that technology transfer and industrial partnerships can further cement economic cooperation.

Ambassador Lepel also announced plans to increase the number of Pakistani students studying in Germany from around 6,000 to as many as 10,000. Separately, Germany has announced a climate and technical cooperation package for Pakistan covering 2025 to 2027.

Chairman Coordination Malik Sohail noted ongoing efforts to broaden cooperation across sectors, and recalled Germany’s recent development pledge of €114 million for Pakistan. President Sheikh urged the German embassy to simplify visa processes for Pakistani businesspeople to facilitate trade missions, joint exhibitions and business forums that can deepen Germany Pakistan Trade.
