FG Polo emerged triumphant at the 63rd Allied Bank National Open Polo Championship for the Quaid-e-Azam Gold Cup at Lahore Polo Club on March 8, 2026, defeating Master Paints/Diamond Paints 10–8 in a closely fought final before a large, enthusiastic crowd.

The match stayed tightly contested through the early chukkers and only opened up in the final chukker when FG Polo produced a decisive run of play to seal the win. Spectators, families and former players filled the stands as both sides showcased high-quality polo throughout the contest.

For FG Polo, Raja Mikayial Sami led the attack with five superb goals, Raul Laplacette added three, while Marcos Rivarola and Amin Rahman Fazal converted one each. Master Paints/Diamond Paints relied on a strong display from Facundo Retamar Carnero with four goals, Amirreza Behbudi with three and Raja Temur Nadeem with one. Facundo Retamar was named the tournament top scorer for his consistent performances across the event.

Individual honours saw Raja Mikayial Sami awarded best Pakistani player and Facundo Retamar named best foreign player. The best pony of the final was the mare Mandi Bola, owned by Abbas Mukhtar. Players also presented a traditional tent-pegging demonstration during the event, and prizes were distributed to participants following the final.

The final was attended by Federal Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar as chief guest and Allied Bank Limited Group Head CRBG Hasnain Raza Mirza, alongside Lahore Polo Club President Malik Azam Hayat Noon, executive committee members Feroz Gulzar and Raja Amir, Club Secretary Maj (R) Amjad Ghafoor and a large number of club members and polo enthusiasts.

Annual awards and cash prizes were presented to Lahore Polo Club staff in recognition of their service, including Admin Manager Muhammad Faisal, Polo Manager Muhammad Imran, Accounts Manager Muhammad Irfan, Club Secretary Maj (R) Amjad Ghafoor, Security In-Charge Muhammad Arif, Veterinary Doctor Dr. Hassan Siddiq, Head Groundsman Muhammad Khalid, Deputy Head Groundsman Muhammad Ali, Riding School Instructor Munawar Iqbal, Head Office Boy Muhammad Iqbal and Caretaker Khizar Hayat.

The National Open Polo Championship for the Quaid-e-Azam Gold Cup remains Pakistan’s most prestigious polo tournament, and FG Polo’s victory further elevates the profile of the sport nationally while reaffirming Lahore Polo Club’s role as the premier venue for high-level polo in the country.
